Card terminals require stable voltage (typically 5V-12V DC) for operation. Power supply failures can stem from component aging, voltage spikes, or excessive current draw due to peripheral failures. Baud rate issues are not typically related to the power supply directly but can manifest as communication errors if the power is unstable. ESD events can damage power supply components over time.
Unit G-13 fails to power on. No display activity or audible feedback is observed upon power button activation. The external power LED (if present) is off.
Safe Handling: Always unplug the device from the mains power outlet before performing any inspection or maintenance. Do not operate the device with damaged power cables or connectors. Avoid using the device in damp or wet environments. Under no circumstances should the device be opened or disassembled, as this will void the warranty and may compromise the security of the payment system.
Regularly inspect power cables and connectors for damage. Ensure adequate ventilation around the terminal to prevent overheating. Use a surge protector to protect against voltage spikes. Clean the exterior of the device with a dry, static-free cloth to remove dust. Ensure the power cable is not subject to excessive strain.
In environments with high static electricity (e.g., during winter months), grounding yourself before touching the terminal can help prevent ESD damage. Try a different power outlet or circuit breaker to rule out issues with the building's electrical system.
