Solenoid functionality relies on precise voltage and current. External EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) or ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) can induce voltage spikes or current fluctuations, disrupting the solenoid's intended operation. Solenoid performance degrades with mechanical wear, altering inductance and response time. Data corruption within the terminal’s firmware due to ESD events can also cause functional errors. Touchscreen sensitivity can be affected by electrostatic build-up.
Regularly clean the terminal's exterior to prevent electrostatic build-up. Implement cable strain relief to minimize wear on connectors. Ensure adequate grounding. Consider an external ferrite choke on the power cable to mitigate EMI. Apply an anti-static spray to the surrounding area (avoid spraying the terminal directly).
Touchscreen unresponsiveness can sometimes be resolved by pressing and holding the power button for 30 seconds to force a hard reset. Install a high-quality surge protector to protect against power fluctuations.
