Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can also temporarily disrupt network communication by affecting the Ethernet controller.
Ensure the power cord and Ethernet cable are free from damage. Avoid creating trip hazards with loose cables. Do not introduce liquids near the KDS. Electrostatic discharge can damage the device. Ground yourself before touching any electronic components, especially during dry conditions or in carpeted areas.
Implement proper cable management to prevent strain on Ethernet cables. Regularly clean the KDS touchscreen and surrounding areas to reduce electrostatic buildup. Monitor network logs for any unusual activity or errors related to the KDS.
If the KDS is configured to use a static IP address, try switching it to DHCP to see if it can obtain an IP address automatically. This can help identify issues with the static IP configuration. A network cable tester can quickly diagnose cable faults. Also check the DHCP lease time on your DHCP server. If the lease time is very short, it could lead to frequent IP address re-assignment issues.
