Intermittent resets suggest a power fluctuation or signal interruption. Voltage dips below the printer's operating threshold (typically 24V DC) can trigger a reset. Serial communication (baud rate 9600-115200 bps) interruptions or signal attenuation due to cable damage or electromagnetic interference (EMI) can also cause resets. Electrostatic discharge (ESD), especially in dry environments, can induce transient voltage spikes, disrupting the printer's microcontroller.
Always unplug the printer from the power outlet before inspecting cables or connections. Avoid touching internal components. Do not use excessive force when connecting or disconnecting cables. Static electricity can damage the printer's electronic components. Ground yourself before touching any connections, especially in low humidity environments. Do not introduce liquids inside the device.
Implement the following preventative measures:
• Secure all cables to prevent strain and accidental disconnections.
• Regularly clean the printer's exterior with a dry, anti-static cloth.
• Use a surge protector to protect the printer from voltage spikes.
• In dry environments, consider using a humidifier or anti-static spray to reduce the risk of ESD.
If the printer is connected via USB, try a different USB port on the POS system. Some USB ports may provide insufficient power. Also, a ferrite choke placed on the USB cable near the printer can reduce EMI.
