Barcode scanners in Poynt terminals use a low-power laser diode. Voltage fluctuations, ESD (electrostatic discharge), or signal attenuation can disrupt the laser diode's function. The scanner also relies on firmware and software drivers to interpret the scanned data, which can contribute to the malfunction if corrupted or outdated.
The Poynt Terminal barcode scanner is not emitting a laser, and barcodes are not being read. Power is on, but no laser activation.
High voltage components are present inside the terminal. Do not attempt to open or repair the device internally.
