The Clover Station relies on a stable power supply and consistent data transmission for proper function. Screen flicker can indicate voltage fluctuations or signal attenuation in the display cable. App crashes may be linked to corrupted data during transmission or power-related CPU instability. EMV chip reading errors can also be related to electrostatic discharge (ESD) during card insertion. Software bugs or conflicts within the payment application are also possible contributors.
Risk of electric shock. Ensure the Clover Station is unplugged from the power outlet before inspecting cables. Avoid operating the device in wet or humid environments. Static discharge can damage electronic components; ground yourself before handling the device, especially in dry environments. Do not attempt to open the device casing; it contains anti-tamper mechanisms that will permanently disable the device.
Regularly clean the touchscreen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dust and debris. Implement cable strain relief to prevent damage to the display and power cables. Consider using an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to protect against voltage fluctuations and power outages. Ensure adequate ventilation around the Clover Station to prevent overheating.
Try clearing the application cache for the Scotiabank Clover payment app. Navigate to Settings -> Apps -> Scotiabank Clover -> Storage -> Clear Cache. A corrupted cache can cause unexpected application behaviour and crashes. Also, check if other apps are consuming excessive resources (CPU/Memory) which may cause payment application to crash; temporarily disable background running app to see if issue resolves.
